He was paired with Education Consultant Jennifer Young. By remaining in contact with the client, his family, teachers, and other treating medical professionals, she was able to compile an Educational Report, identifying the client's short term and long term educational goals, and marking success along the way.First, his pre-accident and post-accident educational status were identified. What work needed to be done? Which areas would need the most focus? Next, Educational Accommodations were arranged. Accommodations like preferential seating, note taking assistance or use of a recording device, extended time on written assignments, step-by-step instructions in verbal and written form, movement and frequent breaks, and tutoring, were essential in maximizing the client's performance in school while addressing comfort and realigning focus.The client did earn his high school diploma. He applied for college and for financial aid with Jennifer's assistance. They continue to set new short-term goals along the way, making impressive strides toward the ultimate Long Term Goal: To progress through the rehabilitation process achieving the highest level of education and the maximum level of function and independence.
