Shannon Higdon
Business Relations Liaison
LMSW, ACSW
My philosophy in life is to treat others as I would like to be treated with respect and kindness.
I began my journey to be a social worker after a difficult time in my life and the realization that I wanted to be in a helping profession. I received my BSW from Eastern Michigan University and my MSW from Wayne State University. It really was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
As a graduate student I was placed at Detroit Receiving Hospital on the Burn Unit, and then I began working at the Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan, where I spent 26 years helping people deal with trauma, disabilities and recovery. The inspiring stories of my patients’ recoveries at RIM have enriched my life in so many ways. I now serve on RIM’s Reimagine Life Foundation.
While working at RIM, I had the pleasure of working with Pam Feinberg and her excellent case managers. I was always so impressed with their high standards, professionalism, advocacy and follow through for their clients. When asked to join the Feinberg Team as their Business Relations Liaison after my retirement from RIM, I was thrilled to accept this position.
In my free time I enjoy traveling with my husband, and spending as much time as possible with my grandson, Charlie. My husband and I sing in our church choir and are Elders in our church.
