My personal mantra that inspires me the most is ‘Everything happens for a reason.’ It reinforces the importance of adaptability and acceptance. We cannot always control our outcomes; however, we can always control how we react to them. There is value in identifying positive attributes in even the most seemingly negative circumstances.
I fell into this field accidentally after finding that engineering was not the right fit for me. I am most motivated by seeing people whose lives have been completely transformed by a correct diagnosis and successful medication regimen. They can go from living in stress and chaos to independence and fulfillment.
I received my bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Dayton and a Master of Social Work from Wayne State University. I am halfway through a master’s in criminal justice from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in NY. In addition to being a Licensed Master’s Social Worker and Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I was certified as a Medicolegal Death Investigator and will graduate MCOLES certified from Oakland Police Academy in September 2024. I have been a reserve sheriff deputy with the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office since April 2022.
Outside of my career, I play soccer on a recreational league and have also been a long-time supporter of Detroit City FC. When I can, I spend time with my son who is a US Navy Sailor and preparing for a 3yr assignment in Japan.
